Even if rained a few days ago in the Philippines, I believe the summer season has almost started given the social networking photos of friends living there. I see them already going to beaches and other usual summer haunts.
So here are a first batch of summer destinations to consider for your 2014 summer in the Philippines.
Boracay
Despite the emergence of new island destinations every year bent on wresting the beach destination of choice crown, Boracay still reigns.
Cebu
I've been to Cebu twice the past 2 years yet I still yearn to visit again as there are so many things to do here. The nice Mactan beaches, Spanish forts and churches, urban infrastructure rivaling Metro Manila make Cebu a destination worth revisiting a couple of times.
Magellan's Cross |
Taoist Temple |
Ayala Terraces Mall |
Bohol
Less than two hours away by ferry, Bohol is Cebu's southeastern island neighbor offering pristine beaches with a rich underwater environment as well. This province is also well known for its centuries-old churches. Unfortunately, the July 2014 earthquake damaged or destroyed some of these churches. Nevertheless, Bohol is one destination you still should not miss as it still has a lot to offer.
You will be helping the province recover economically as well.
Panglao |
